Know the Signs
Lawn sprinkler repair takes a fair amount of knowledge, but the signs that repairs may be needed are fairly easy to spot.
Overwatering and under-watering: The first thing you need to do is walk around your Coeur d'Alene property right after the sprinkler system has turned off. Take note if the areas around the sprinklers are adequately watered. Finding dead or dying grass can be an indication of both overwatering and under-watering, but it can take some time for that to occur. Your feet are a great indicator. Listen to and feel the amount of water that is underfoot. If the amount seems uneven then there is a good chance that you need sprinkler repairs and adjustments.
Sputtering: Often you can hear when repairs are needed because a sprinkler head will make an odd sound. Make sure to check the head for blockages, cracks and fissures.
Dripping: Head over to the control valve where the sprinkler system receives the water. Is there dripping or signs of water? The control valve should have a water tight seal so there should not even be dampness around the pressure regulator or filters.
Expensive water bill: The telltale sign that something is wrong. If you have a spike in your water bill this is a good indication that your sprinklers are leaking somewhere. Call in a sprinkler re-pair professional right away to make sure your next bill is back to normal.
